TESU BA Computer Science BSBA CIS Double Degree Plan[edit | edit source]

This is a degree plan to go for 2 separate degrees at the same time which was made approximately February of 2024. Please make sure that the suggestions are still valid before beginning to follow this plan.

You will get 2 separate diplomas since this is considered 2 separate degrees and not a double major. One is from the Bachelors of Arts school and one from the Bachelors of Science school. On your transcript, it will also list 2 separate degrees.

Once you meet the requirements for a BA Computer Science degree, you would only need 4 more courses + the business capstone to have a degree in BSBA CIS.(Now BS CIS).

Important Name Changes to BSBA CIS Major[edit | edit source]

The diploma for BSBA CIS used to say "Bachelor of Science in Business Administration," and the transcript would say the same thing. Now, according to this thread, this may no longer be the case as the name will now say "BS CIS" with no reference to "Business Administration."

The concentrations that are under BSBA are now Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, Marketing, and Operations Management.

The concentrations that used to be Business Administration degrees and are now BS degrees are Entrepreneurship, General Management, International Business, and CIS.

Once you have a Computer Science degree, a Business Administration degree becomes much more valuable than any technology-related degree.

You need 7 more courses, plus the business capstone, to earn a BSBA degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, Marketing or Operations Management. Sample double degree plans for Finance and Marketing are included in this degree program.

Note: You can't do both the BS CIS and one of the BSBA degrees as at the time of graduation they will make you pick one or the other. You can do a double BSBA concentration as long as no credits overlap between BSBA concentrations.

30 Credit RA Requirement for TESU[edit | edit source]

Each degree has a limit of 90 alternatives credits which are accepted. The RA credits and alternative credits can apply to each degree so that you only need 30 RA credits total for both degrees.

To RA credits, you can get credits from taking TECEP exams, Tel Learning, UMPI or other options.

Avoiding the $3354 Residency Waiver Fee[edit | edit source]

You will need to take 15 credits at TESU in order to avoid the residency waiver fee. You could take the flat-rate term to avoid the residency waiver fee for $4299. ($3319 flat-rate tuition fee for students who live in New Jersey.)

Associate Degree in Business, Computer Science, or Math Degree Plan[edit | edit source]

If you follow the degree plan below, then you should be pretty close to obtaining an Associate Degree for free without having to take bunch of additional courses. It's recommended to at least get an associates if you don't get the additional bachelor's degree.

If you are going for both bachelor's of CS and BS CIS, then you can look into the Math Associates as it only requires a few more additional courses for that degree.

If you are doing the CS degree, then going for the associates in business would be quite easy.

If you are doing the BS CIS degree, then going for the associates in computer science would be easy and require very few additional courses.
